San Diego, CA - San Diego Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Pride will celebrate 30 years of history with a loud and colorful bang throughout Hillcrest, a suburb of Metro San Diego, on July 30, 31 and Aug. 1. This years anniversary theme is: “30 Years of Pride: Strength in Numbers.”

A rally commemorating the Stonewall Uprising of 1969 in New York City will kick off the weekend on Friday, July 30th. Then on Saturday, July 31, Pride holds its mile-long parade beginning at 11 a.m., at University and Normal streets. With nearly 200 floats and contingents taking part, the rousing procession continues west on University to Sixth Avenue, then south to Ivy Lane. Last years parade drew nearly 140,000 participants, making it San Diego’s largest civic event ever. Longtime political activist and social columnist Nicole Murray-Ramierz of San Diego will serve as parade grand marshal.

Pride’s expanded two-day festival begins immediately after the parade and features 250 exhibits, vendors and attractions geared for every age group. The event runs from noon to 10 p.m., July 31, and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., on Aug. 1. Admission is $12 per day; or $20 for a weekend pass.

Among the festival attractions are three dance floors, two beer gardens, a youth space, Children’s garden, senior pavilion and a main concert stage filled with non-stop entertainment. This years headline performers are the 80s rock sensation Berlin with Terri Nunn; international recording artists and dance-music divas Kristine W and Maxine Nightingale, plus La Internacional Sonora Show, lauded internationally for their electrifying Latin music and dance performances.

Festival-goers will also find a Pride history tent showcasing San Diego’s rich LGBT history over the past 30 years, along with a singles area hosted by the Bisexual Forum, and a new karaoke stage featuring singers from San Diego’s favorite karaoke clubs. A separate stage area in the youth space known as The Xone will feature various musicians and performers from local LGBT youth.
