Phoenix, AZ -- This year marks the 10th annual Phoenix Pride Parade and will be the largest Pride Parade ever in Phoenix. Over 100 entries have been submitted for this exciting and colorful street event. This year, the Parade will be on Saturday morning, April 1, 2006.

The Phoenix Pride Parade route is moving to 3rd Street from Central. The Parade will march north from Virginia to Indian School Road. It will kickoff at 11am and the Parade judging stand will be set up just south of Osborn.

The Pride Festival will open at 11 am on both Saturday and Sunday – April 1 & 2. The Festival closing time will be Saturday night at 9pm and on Sunday evening at 7pm.

The featured entertainment at the event continues to expand. The featured headliners will include Jennifer Holliday on the Festival Stage on Saturday and RuPaul on Sunday afternoon. There will be a total of four entertainment venues plus the high energy, exciting Dance Pavilion.

In addition, the Pride Marketplace has expanded. For 2006, there will be more than 230 vendors and exhibitors. The international Pride food court is expanding the food and dining selection.

A discounted weekend admission ticket is available for only $15, to be able to attend both Saturday and Sunday. A single day admission ticket is still $10.

A new feature of the annual Phoenix Pride Celebration is the “Movie in the Park”. The feature movie – BIRDCAGE – is being shown on Friday night, March 31-- at sunset. The movie will be shown on the large movie screen in the Amphitheatre area of Steele Indian School Park. This is a free admission event. The event is in association with Phoenix Councilman Tom Simplot.

On Saturday night, the Adonis Party, presented by Andrews Entertainment, will take place at the Icehouse event space. The official after party for Phoenix Pride, the Adonis Party benefits Body Positive Phoenix. Body Positive provides education, testing and health programs for community members living with HIV and AIDS.

Advance tickets for the pride festival are now on sell online at the new Pride web site: http://www.phoenixpride.org. For the first time, both advance admission tickets and beverage tickets can be purchased on line and picked up at the special Pride Will Call entrance to the Pride Festival.
