Sydney, AU- Sydney 2002 Gay Games announced today that it has released a new batch of seats to its fabulous Opening Ceremony at a price of just AU$60 (plus booking fee).

"Now that the production requirements are finalised and we know how many seats we need for our participants, we have been able to release a limited number of seats at this fantastic price of just sixty dollars," Sydney 2002 Co-Chair Peter Bailey said.

"These new seats will make what is going to be the most spectacular event in Sydney this year accessible to a broader cross-section of the community.

"Audience members will enjoy an uninterrupted view of the proceedings, including the performances of kd lang, Jimmy Somerville, Peretta Anggerek, Paul Capsis, Deborah Cheetham, Judi Connelli, Bob Downe, Leah Howard, Shauna Jensen, Molly Meldrum, Gillian Minervini, Portia Turbo, and Vanessa Wagner.

"I'm also extremely proud to announce that - joining Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir, AC, Governor of NSW, who is officially opening the Games - our keynote speaker will be Justice Michael Kirby of the Australian High Court.

"We are honoured that Justice Kirby, arguably the most high-profile gay man in Australia and one the world's most respected jurists, has agreed to make what promises to be powerful and inspirational speech.

"The last week has seen an extremely healthy surge in the number of tickets sold for the Black Party and Farewell, and these new Opening Ceremony seats will prove just as popular.

"We have received hundreds of e-mails from people disappointed at missing out on the Sunset Party - to avoid the same disappointment tickets must be purchased now." For more information visit the Sydney 2002 Gay Games website at http://www.sydney2002.org.au/
