TRAVEL INFORMATION: Copenhagen >> Hotels

Copenhagen, DK -- For quite some time, Denmark has had an annual parade through the streets of Copenhagen. A parade which has provided Danish gays, lesbians, bisexuals and transsexuals with a unique chance to show the world who they are.

The parade has given spectators an opportunity to witness motley diversity, bubbling energy and an initiative of great relief. It is a tribute to multiplicity and joie de vivre - a celebration of diversity and individuality.

For many years, organisations of gays, lesbians, bisexuals and transsexuals all over the world have celebrated such parades - "Prides" - to a small or large extent. The most famous one is probably the annual Mardi Grass Festival in Sydney, which attracts hundreds of thousands of participants and tourists.

The Danish Mermaid Pride is arranged by a group of people who have chosen to live openly with their sexuality. This unsalaried group work hard at assuming the mantle of the 2002 Mermaid Pride so that the 2003 parade will be even bigger and even gayer. The committee includes brand new dynamic Pride personalities who work to enable as many gays, lesbians, bisexuals and transsexuals as possible to have a festive day.
